About this sound

The classic 'Why are you running?' meme sound, a frantic reaction quote from a viral Nigerian scene used when someone panics, flees or overreacts.

This clip is the well-known 'Why are you running?' line, delivered in a loud, confused, slightly panicked voice as someone takes off. The short audio has an instant meme effect because it turns any sudden escape, awkward exit or guilty reaction into a joke. Creators use it to highlight people bailing out of conversations, sprinting from consequences or dramatically avoiding responsibility. Its mix of urgency and absurdity makes even a simple cutaway feel more chaotic and playful.

This audio became popular online as a reaction meme built around the shouted phrase 'Why are you running?' The clip spread heavily through short edits, reposts and caption memes on social platforms, where creators used it for scenes of panic, guilt or comic escape. Its staying power comes from how quickly the line explains the joke: someone is fleeing, and the sound makes that overreaction feel even funnier. It is often paired with the run vine effect sound in fast-cut meme videos.
