About this sound

A TikTok mashup pairing Mitski's “Washing Machine Heart” with an “ehh” vocal clip, used for ironic edits, awkward reactions, and dramatic reveals.

This short mashup combines part of Mitski’s “Washing Machine Heart” with a clipped “ehh” vocal sound. The recognizable music supplies a dreamy, emotionally charged backdrop, while the added voice interrupts it with an awkward or dismissive twist. That contrast makes the audio work especially well in short-form videos that suddenly change tone. Creators often use it to turn a serious setup into a joke, underline visible hesitation, or accompany a reveal that is intentionally underwhelming. The brief vocal interruption gives viewers an immediate cue that something feels strange or unimpressive.

“Washing Machine Heart” is a song by Mitski from her 2018 album Be the Cowboy. Its compact melody and emotionally expressive delivery have made it a frequent source for short-form video edits. This version adds an “ehh” vocal interruption, creating a fan-made contrast between the song’s polished mood and a blunt reaction. The exact origin of the added vocal is unclear, but the combined clip circulates as a TikTok-style editing sound because it quickly communicates hesitation, anticlimax, or ironic disappointment.
