About this sound

The famous THX bass-heavy cinematic intro sound from theater trailers, often used in memes, dramatic reveals and loud volume warning jokes.

This clip is the iconic THX Deep Note style swell: a slow, heavy build of layered tones that grows into a huge, room-shaking blast. It starts tense and mechanical, then opens into a massive cinematic chord that instantly grabs attention. The sound is famous for its deep bass and polished theater feel, so even a short use can make a moment seem oversized, dramatic or intentionally too intense. Viewers usually react with recognition, nostalgia or a quick laugh when it is used as an exaggerated audio punchline.

The THX Deep Note is the signature audio logo created for THX, the theater sound system brand developed at Lucasfilm. It debuted in 1983 and became widely known through cinema trailers played before feature films. Because the sound begins with an eerie buildup and ends in a powerful chord, it spread beyond theaters into meme edits, bass tests and parody intros. It is still used today because people instantly associate it with big-screen presentation, loud speakers and exaggerated cinematic seriousness.
