About this sound

This viral Donald Trump quote from the 2024 presidential debate says they're eating the dogs and cats, fueling political memes, remixes, and reaction edits.

The clip captures Donald Trump emphatically claiming that immigrants were eating dogs and cats during a televised presidential debate. His repeated phrasing, rising intensity, and unusual subject matter made the moment instantly recognizable. Used without context, the line creates surprise and absurdity; paired with footage of pets, political commentary, or bewildered reactions, it becomes a sharp comedic punchline. The relatively long spoken delivery also gives editors room to build anticipation before the best-known words land.

The quote came from Donald Trump's September 2024 presidential debate against Kamala Harris. Trump alleged that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating residents' pets, while local officials said there were no credible reports supporting the claim. Video excerpts rapidly circulated across social platforms, where creators paired the line with animal footage, reactions, and political satire. Musicians also transformed the speech into songs, including a widely shared remix by The Kiffness. Its rhythmic repetition and striking imagery have kept it recognizable beyond the original debate.
