About this sound

A ten-second human laughter clip of unknown origin, commonly used in reaction edits, funny videos, memes, and compilations of awkward moments.

This clip captures nearly eleven seconds of sustained human laughter. Rather than delivering a spoken line, the voice communicates a strong amused reaction that can make an ordinary mistake, reveal, or embarrassing pause feel instantly funnier. Its longer duration gives editors room to let a joke develop instead of cutting away after a brief chuckle. The sound works especially well when the laughter seems disproportionate to what is happening on screen, adding a playful, mocking, or absurd tone to reaction videos and meme edits.

The original recording source, performer, and date are not identified in the available metadata. Its Russian title, “смех,” simply means “laughter,” while the slug uses the transliteration “smekh.” Online editors commonly use sustained laughter clips as reaction audio, especially after mistakes, awkward statements, failed challenges, or visual punchlines. This recording remains useful because its nearly eleven-second length can cover an entire reaction sequence, while editors can also trim it into shorter bursts for faster meme pacing.
