About this sound

A short jumpscare screamer sound effect used in memes, horror edits and prank clips to startle viewers with a sudden, sharp audio hit.

This clip is a brief screamer-style jumpscare sound designed to hit fast and loud. It has the kind of sudden, piercing burst people use to shock the viewer for a split second, usually right after a quiet buildup or an unexpected visual cut. In edits, it creates a classic scare effect that feels abrupt, tense and a little chaotic. Because the sound is so short, it works best as a punchy interruption rather than background audio, especially in horror memes, fakeouts and quick prank videos.

This sound is widely labeled skrimer, a transliteration of the Russian word commonly used online for a screamer or jumpscare clip. Its exact original source is unclear, but it fits a long-running internet style of sudden scare audio paired with shocking visuals. Short screamer sounds spread through meme pages, horror compilations and chat shares because they create an instant reaction in just a couple of seconds. In modern edits, creators often use it in the same punch-in role as a vine boom, but with a more horror-focused effect.
