About this sound

The legendary jumpscare scream from the classic Scary Maze Game prank, commonly reused in meme edits to shock viewers and exaggerate sudden horror moments.

This clip is the piercing scream associated with the Scary Maze Game, the classic bait-and-switch browser prank. It hits suddenly at full volume, turning a quiet concentration moment into an instant jumpscare. The sound is sharp, harsh and unmistakably designed to startle, which is why it still works so well in memes and prank edits. Viewers usually recognize it right away from the maze screen setup, and even on its own it creates that same old-school shock effect people remember from early internet screamers.

The sound comes from the Scary Maze Game, also widely known as The Maze, an online prank game that spread heavily in the mid-2000s through emails, forums and early video sites. Players were told to focus on guiding a dot through narrow paths before a horror face and scream suddenly appeared. It became one of the most recognizable internet screamers because the setup was simple, the shock was immediate, and reaction videos kept the format alive. Many modern edits pair it with sudden suspense before the payoff.
