About this sound

Borat’s iconic enthusiastic catchphrase from the comedy film franchise became a meme audio for approval moments, exaggerated praise, and ironic reactions, widely used in viral edits to highlight absurd positivity in internet culture humor.

This clip is Borat's unmistakable 'Very nice' line, delivered in the character's exaggerated accent with cheerful, slightly awkward enthusiasm. It is short, punchy and instantly recognisable, which makes it work well as a reaction sound. The humor comes from the over-the-top approval and the way it can sound both sincere and ironic depending on the context. Viewers usually read it as a playful stamp of approval, especially when a video shows something absurd, unexpectedly impressive or deliberately cringey.

The line comes from Borat, the fictional Kazakh journalist played by Sacha Baron Cohen, and became one of the character's best known catchphrases in the 2000s. Short clips of Borat saying 'Very nice' spread widely on early soundboards, forums and YouTube meme edits because the phrase is instantly understandable and easy to reuse. It remains popular as a reaction sound for fake praise, genuine approval and jokes built around exaggerated positivity, much like oh my god, wow! in surprise edits.
