About this sound

The classic Ricola call from the Swiss herbal cough drop ads, used in memes and edits as a loud distant shout or sudden punchline.

This sound is the recognizable “Ricola” shout made famous by the brand’s commercials, delivered in a drawn-out, echoing call that feels like it is coming from far away. The clip is short, clean, and instantly familiar to many viewers, which makes it useful as a goofy reveal or interruption. In edits, it often lands like a surprise audio cue that breaks tension, underlines a random moment, or turns an ordinary scene into a joke by adding that dramatic, sing-song yell.

The sound comes from Ricola advertising, where the brand name was sung or called out in a distinctive way that became easy to recognize outside the commercials themselves. Online, that call has lived on as a reaction sound and quick punchline, especially in short meme edits where a sudden familiar audio cue makes the joke land faster. Its staying power comes from how brief, clear, and instantly identifiable it is, even when dropped into totally unrelated footage.
