About this sound

A short Portuguese voice clip saying que bom, meaning that's great, used as a quick happy reaction in meme edits, videos and WhatsApp replies.

Que bom is a very short spoken clip, lasting under a second, in which a voice delivers the Portuguese phrase que bom with a bright, satisfied tone. It sounds like a quick burst of approval, warm and a little playful rather than formal, and it lands instantly because there is no build-up or explanation. Listeners recognise the feeling even if they do not speak Portuguese, since the upbeat delivery makes the meaning clear. In an edit it works as a tiny stamp of delight, turning a good moment into a shared joke and giving the viewer a reason to smile before the scene moves on.

The exact original recording behind this short clip is not clearly documented, and it circulates mainly through soundboards and short-form video rather than as a widely credited scene or song. Its appeal comes from the phrase itself, a common Portuguese expression for something good, which is easy to recognise and reuse even outside Brazil and Portugal. The variant spellings kibom, kibon and ki bom reflect how listeners hear and search for the sound phonetically. That simplicity keeps it in rotation as a fast, friendly reaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does que bom mean?

Que bom is Portuguese for how good or that's great. It is used to express pleasure, relief or approval when something nice happens, and its upbeat tone makes that feeling clear even to listeners who do not speak Portuguese.

Where does the que bom sound come from?

The exact source of this short clip is not clearly documented, so it is best described as a soundboard reaction clip rather than a line from a known film, show or song. It spreads through memes, edits and messaging apps where people reuse short Portuguese reactions.

How can I use the que bom sound in a video?

Place it immediately after good news, a tasty reveal or a small victory, and let it play once without background music underneath. It works best as a quick reaction beat at the end of a scene, rather than as background audio throughout a longer clip.
