About this sound

A short "MMMAAHH" vocal notification from Pou, the virtual pet game, used in edits, message alerts, and reaction clips for a cute comic surprise.

This Pou notification sound is a rapid, high-pitched character vocalization lasting less than a second. The abrupt "MMMAAHH" resembles an excited squeak or tiny shout rather than a spoken phrase. Its compressed, cartoonish delivery makes an ordinary notification feel playful and slightly chaotic. Because the clip begins immediately and ends cleanly, it works well as a quick response to unexpected messages, sudden reveals, minor mistakes, or cute on-screen actions. Fans of the virtual pet game can also recognize its distinctive vocal style almost instantly.

Pou is a virtual pet game developed by Zakeh and released for mobile devices in 2012. Its alien-like pet responds to care, games, food, and other interactions with simple animations and distinctive vocal effects. This brief notification-style cry became useful beyond gameplay because it is recognizable, compact, and easy to synchronize with visual cues. Like a Discord notification, it can mark an incoming message, but its exaggerated character voice gives the moment a more playful and comedic tone.
