About this sound

The iconic "Play of the Game" announcer voice clip from Overwatch, used in edits, highlights and memes to introduce an over-the-top winning moment.

This sound is the clean voice line that says "Play of the Game," without the rest of the match audio behind it. It has the polished, dramatic delivery of a multiplayer shooter announcer, so even a very short clip instantly feels like a big highlight reveal. Creators use it to frame a perfect clutch, a lucky shot or a joke moment that definitely did not deserve a grand introduction. The contrast between the serious esports-style presentation and a silly clip is what makes it land so well in short edits.

This clip is known from Overwatch, where the match-end highlight system announces a featured moment with the line "Play of the Game." Since Overwatch launched in 2016, that phrase has spread far beyond the game into highlight edits, streamer compilations and short meme videos. People use it because the audio instantly signals that a supposedly epic moment is coming, which makes the payoff funnier when the clip is either genuinely impressive or completely underwhelming. It often appears alongside other competitive game sounds such as Enemy Spotted.
