About this sound

The Pikmin drowning sound effect captures a stranded Pikmin crying for help in Nintendo's game series, ideal for failed rescues and gaming edits.

This brief game sound captures a Pikmin struggling in water and letting out a high-pitched cry for help. Its urgent, distressed tone immediately suggests that a small companion is in danger and needs rescuing. Because the clip lasts just over a second, it works as a sharp reaction cue without interrupting the pace of an edit. The combination of panic and the Pikmin’s tiny voice can make a failed rescue feel dramatic, funny, or unexpectedly sad, especially when paired with footage of a character falling into water or being left behind.

The sound comes from Nintendo’s Pikmin game series, where players command groups of small plantlike creatures while exploring hazardous environments. Water is a recurring obstacle because most Pikmin types can drown when they remain submerged, while Blue Pikmin are adapted to it. Their distressed calls warn the player that immediate action is needed. Online, this short cry is also used beyond gameplay clips as a compact reaction sound for helpless characters, failed rescues, and situations where someone is visibly in trouble but comically difficult to save.
