About this sound

A long, voice-free Nazgul scream from The Lord of the Rings films, used to add Ringwraith terror, supernatural menace, or dark fantasy tension.

This extended sound effect captures the piercing, unnatural shriek associated with the Nazgul in The Lord of the Rings films. The cry rises into a harsh, sustained wail with an eerie, otherworldly texture, presented without dialogue or other voices interrupting it. Its long duration makes the tension linger instead of delivering only a quick scare. For viewers, the sound immediately suggests an approaching supernatural threat, making an otherwise ordinary scene feel dangerous, haunted, or connected to the dark fantasy atmosphere of Middle-earth.

The Nazgul, also called Ringwraiths, are servants of Sauron in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth stories. Their piercing cries became especially recognizable through Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, released from 2001 to 2003. Isolated versions later circulated in fantasy edits, gaming videos, memes, and horror-style remixes. The scream remains useful because audiences quickly associate it with airborne danger, supernatural pursuit, and the intimidating presence of the Black Riders.
