About this sound

A short Mortal Kombat game audio clip used in fight memes, gaming edits and dramatic knockout moments inspired by the iconic arcade series.

This sound is a short clip of classic Mortal Kombat-style game audio, the kind of sharp, dramatic effect people associate with fights, knockouts and over-the-top arcade action. It has that instantly recognisable retro combat energy, making a moment feel bigger and more intense the second it hits. Creators use it to turn a simple fail, win or insult into something that feels like a final round in a fighting game. It works especially well when the video already has a face-off, sudden impact or exaggerated reaction.

Mortal Kombat began as an arcade fighting game series released by Midway in 1992, and its sound design became a big part of its identity. Short combat cues, announcer moments and finishing-move audio spread far beyond the games through compilations, memes and social edits. Even when a clip is trimmed or reposted without context, people still recognise the Mortal Kombat feel right away. That lasting popularity comes from how well the series' audio fits videos about rivalry, sudden impact and exaggerated victories.
