About this sound

The seagulls’ “mine” chant from Finding Nemo, used in memes and video edits to joke about greed, rivalry, or everyone wanting the same thing.

This clip captures the flock of seagulls from Finding Nemo repeatedly calling out “mine” in their sharp, insistent voices. The rapid repetition turns a simple word into a noisy chorus of competition, making the scene instantly recognizable and easy to use as a punchline. Its impatient rhythm creates the feeling that everyone is fighting over the same object, prize, snack, or idea. In an edit, the sound adds playful chaos and makes selfish, possessive, or overly eager behavior seem exaggerated without needing extra explanation.

The chant comes from Finding Nemo, the 2003 animated film, where a flock of seagulls repeatedly cries “mine” while pursuing anything that looks like food. The birds’ limited vocabulary and relentless delivery made the moment one of the film’s most memorable running jokes. Short clips and reaction edits later carried the scene across online meme culture. It remains useful because the repeated word communicates greed, competition, and group obsession immediately, even when viewers have not seen the surrounding scene.
