About this sound

The RDR2 low honor cue is a dark in-game sound tied to dishonorable actions. Editors use it for anime dings, bad choices, and ominous punchlines.

This short sound effect recreates the grim audio cue associated with losing honor in Red Dead Redemption 2. Its low, foreboding tone signals that a character has done something cruel, selfish, or morally questionable. The clip creates an immediate sense of judgment without needing dialogue, making it effective after a betrayal, failed act of kindness, or unexpectedly ruthless decision. Online editors also place it over anime scenes and reaction videos, where the ominous ding turns an awkward or villainous moment into a recognizable gaming joke.

The low honor cue comes from Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games' 2018 open-world Western. The game tracks Arthur Morgan's conduct through an honor system that responds to helpful or harmful behavior and influences parts of the experience. Its negative audio feedback became recognizable beyond gameplay as creators adapted it for memes, anime edits, and short reaction clips. It remains useful because viewers familiar with the game instantly understand its message: someone has just made a dishonorable choice.
