About this sound

The classic Jeff Kaplan intro from Overwatch update videos, used in memes, edits and gaming jokes when a calm, official opening makes the moment funnier.

This clip is the familiar opening line "Jeff from the Overwatch team," delivered in Jeff Kaplan's calm, slightly formal presentation style. It has a plain, corporate-video feel that contrasts perfectly with chaotic gameplay, bad patch notes or absurd edits. Because the line sounds so measured and recognizable to Overwatch players, it creates instant setup before a punchline lands. The humor comes from that serious developer-update tone being dropped into situations where nobody expects it, making even small moments feel like a dramatic official announcement.

This quote is associated with Jeff Kaplan, the longtime public face of Overwatch, and comes from the developer update format Blizzard used for game news and balance discussions. Players heard the intro repeatedly in official videos during Overwatch's peak years, which made it instantly recognizable. It spread through gaming memes as creators clipped the opening to frame jokes about nerfs, buffs and community drama. The sound still gets used because Kaplan's relaxed delivery is easy to identify and sets up an intentionally formal mood in a few seconds.
