About this sound

Chiro says he does not like being lied to by his friends in this short clip from SRMTHFG, used for calling out betrayal and dishonest friends online.

This is a short, earnest voice line from Chiro, the young leader in Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go, delivered with hurt and frustration rather than anger. He states plainly that he does not like being lied to by his friends, and the delivery sounds sincere, vulnerable and a little wounded. The clarity of the emotion makes the clip land instantly, even out of context. Viewers hear disappointment and broken trust in just a few seconds, which is why it works so well as a reaction to deception, fake excuses and moments when someone feels let down by people close to them.

The line comes from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go, commonly shortened to SRMTHFG, in the season one episode Chiro's Girl. Chiro is the teenage leader of the Monkey Team, and the moment reflects the show's focus on loyalty and teamwork in Shuggazoom City. The series first aired in 2004 on Jetix and built a nostalgic following among viewers who grew up with it. Short clips of its dialogue later circulated on soundboards and in fan edits, where this honest reaction to being deceived found a second life as a relatable meme sound.
