About this sound

A short voice clip saying "I can smell you," used in prank edits, creepy memes and POV videos when someone notices a person nearby.

This sound is a very short spoken clip of someone saying, “I can smell you.” The line lands as weird, invasive and slightly creepy, which is exactly why people use it in joke edits. It works well as a sudden interruption after a character hides, sneaks up, or gets caught doing something embarrassing. Because the delivery is blunt and compact, it creates instant tension and then flips into comedy a beat later. Viewers usually read it as a mock hunter, stalker or overdramatic detection moment rather than a serious threat.

The exact source of this clip is unclear, but it has circulated online as a short reaction and prank sound for years. It appears most often in meme edits, POV videos and low-effort comedy posts where a character suddenly senses someone nearby. Its staying power comes from how quickly the line sets a creepy tone without needing setup, then becomes funny through timing and contrast. Creators usually pair it with awkward zooms, freeze frames or a shocked reaction to turn a simple sentence into an instant punchline.
