About this sound

A short honking sound associated with Mars Attacks, used in memes, edits and reaction clips when you want a weird, retro alien punchline.

This clip is a brief, sharp honk-like sound tied to Mars Attacks. It has a quirky sci-fi feel, landing somewhere between a comic alien noise and a retro movie sound effect. Because it is so short, it works best as a sudden accent rather than a background element. The sound gives a scene an absurd, offbeat twist, which is why people use it in meme edits, goofy reveals and reaction videos. It stands out quickly, adds a strange little jolt, and makes ordinary moments feel intentionally ridiculous.

Mars Attacks is a 1996 sci-fi comedy film, and sounds connected to it keep circulating online because of the movie's instantly recognizable campy alien style. Short clips from the film are often reused in soundboards, memes and low-effort edits where creators want something odd, nostalgic and deliberately cheesy. Even without much setup, the sound reads as retro sci-fi comedy, which helps it stay useful for punchlines, strange reveals and chaotic reaction posts years after the movie's release.
