About this sound

A short “Hey sisters” greeting followed by a sharp “ahh,” associated with James Charles and used in memes, abrupt reveals, and chaotic reaction edits.

This short meme clip opens with the recognizable greeting “Hey sisters” before snapping into a loud, startled “ahh.” The sudden change from a cheerful introduction to an exaggerated cry gives the audio its comic impact. It works especially well when a polished entrance, beauty reveal, or confident statement immediately goes wrong. Because the entire setup and reaction happen in under three seconds, the sound creates a quick punchline without interrupting the pace of an edit. Viewers often recognize the greeting before the abrupt ending catches them off guard.

“Hey sisters” is a greeting strongly associated with beauty creator James Charles, who used it when addressing his online audience. The phrase became widely recognizable beyond beauty content through parody videos, reaction edits, and short-form memes. This version adds an abrupt cry after the familiar introduction, turning the greeting into a compact bait-and-switch joke. Creators continue using it because the opening suggests confidence and polish while the ending supplies instant chaos, making it useful for quick visual reversals and failed reveals.
