About this sound

A sharp French reaction clip of Bassem saying "ferme ta gueule," used in memes, edits and chats when someone wants a blunt shut up moment.

This sound is a short French reaction clip built around Bassem snapping, “ferme ta gueule,” meaning “shut up.” The delivery is quick, irritated and a little comedic, which makes it land as both aggressive and absurd depending on the edit. People use it to cut off rambling, answer a bad take, or punch up an over-the-top argument in a meme. Because the line is so direct and recognizable, it works best as a sudden interruption that makes the viewer laugh at the sheer bluntness of the response.

This clip is mainly known online as a French reaction sound tied to the name Bassem, and people often search it with phrases like “allez ferme ta gueule” or “bassem allez ferme ta gueule.” It spread through meme pages, short edits, GIF-style reposts and chat audio shares rather than through a widely credited mainstream source. Its staying power comes from how short and instantly readable it is: even viewers who do not speak French understand it as a sharp shut-up reaction for jokes, clapbacks and exaggerated annoyance.
