About this sound

A computerized voice announces “Edna Mode... and guest” in The Incredibles, a dry movie quote used for awkward arrivals, introductions, and plus-one jokes.

This short clip features the computerized announcement “Edna Mode... and guest” from The Incredibles. The measured electronic voice pauses noticeably after identifying Edna, then adds the unnamed visitor as an afterthought. That timing gives the line its dry, slightly dismissive humor. It works especially well when someone arrives with an unexpected companion, receives an impersonal introduction, or appears less important than the person beside them. The crisp delivery and brief runtime make the joke land quickly without interrupting the surrounding scene.

The line comes from Pixar’s 2004 animated film The Incredibles and is associated with fashion designer Edna Mode’s highly automated home. A computerized voice identifies Edna and then labels her companion simply as “guest,” creating an intentionally impersonal introduction. The quote later found a natural place in reaction edits and short videos because its pause sets up an easy visual reveal. It remains useful for plus-one jokes, unequal introductions, and scenes where one person receives noticeably less recognition than another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Edna Mode and guest sound from?

The sound comes from Pixar’s 2004 animated film The Incredibles. It is heard in connection with Edna Mode’s automated home, where a computerized voice identifies Edna before referring to the person accompanying her only as a guest.

Who says “Edna Mode and guest” in The Incredibles?

The line is delivered by a computerized announcement system rather than Edna herself. Its formal electronic delivery and deliberate pause before “and guest” make the unnamed companion sound amusingly unimportant.

How is the Edna Mode and guest quote used in videos?

Creators commonly use it for entrances, plus-one reveals, and introductions where one person gets top billing while another is barely acknowledged. The pause works best when the second person appears on screen just before the words “and guest.”
