About this sound

A bass-boosted, distorted version of the low honor cue from Red Dead Redemption 2, used in memes when a choice feels cruel or dishonorable.

This clip turns the Red Dead Redemption 2 low honor cue into an intentionally harsh earrape sound. The recognizable game audio is heavily amplified and distorted, giving it a blown-out, abrasive impact that lasts just over five seconds. It evokes the game’s morality system, where dishonorable actions lower Arthur Morgan’s honor level. In edits, the exaggerated volume makes an unethical decision, failed attempt, or unexpectedly cruel moment feel dramatically worse. The distortion also adds a chaotic meme quality, transforming a serious in-game consequence into an immediate comedic reaction.

Red Dead Redemption 2, released by Rockstar Games in 2018, follows outlaw Arthur Morgan and includes an honor system shaped by the player’s behavior. Low honor is associated with criminal, selfish, and violent choices, making its audio cues useful shorthand for wrongdoing. Distorted versions later circulated through gaming edits and reaction memes, where amplified sound adds a sudden comic penalty after questionable behavior. The clip remains recognizable because viewers can understand the joke through either its connection to the game or its aggressively disapproving tone.
