About this sound

The classic “pull up” ground proximity warning from the Collins FPC-75 GPWS, often used in aviation edits, crash memes and sudden danger jokes.

This clip is the sharp automated “pull up” warning heard from an aircraft ground proximity warning system, associated here with the Collins FPC-75 used on DC-10-era flight decks. It has a clipped synthetic voice, urgent pacing and a stark cockpit feel that instantly signals imminent danger. Even out of context, the warning creates tension and makes a scene feel seconds away from disaster. That is why people drop it into aviation videos, fail compilations and joke edits where something is going very wrong very quickly.

This sound is the “pull up” alert from the Collins FPC-75 Ground Proximity Warning System, a cockpit safety voice warning associated with older airliners including the DC-10. Recordings of GPWS alerts have circulated widely in aviation communities and on video platforms because the phrase is instantly recognizable even to non-pilots. Online, it spread beyond flight content into meme edits, where creators use the warning as shorthand for an unrecoverable mistake, a fast-approaching disaster or a joke that has gone too far.
