About this sound

The deadpan “computer says no” quote from Little Britain, used in memes and reaction edits when technology, bureaucracy, or customer service blocks a request.

This short voice clip features the flat, dismissive line “computer says no,” associated with Carol Beer from the British sketch comedy series Little Britain. The deliberately unhelpful response reduces any complicated request to an unquestionable computer decision. Its dry delivery, abrupt refusal, and lack of sympathy make the moment feel both frustrating and absurd. In an edit, the quote creates an instant rejection punchline, especially when someone encounters an error message, denied request, rigid policy, or employee who refuses to solve an obvious problem.

“Computer says no” comes from Little Britain, the British television sketch comedy series that began in 2003. David Walliams played Carol Beer, an unhelpful employee who used the phrase to dismiss customer requests after checking her computer. The recurring sketch turned the line into a widely recognized catchphrase in the United Kingdom. It later spread through reaction clips, image macros, and social media edits, where it remains shorthand for automated rejection, obstructive bureaucracy, and people treating a computer’s answer as final.
