About this sound

Shaq's 'barbeque chicken alert' catchphrase from basketball TV clips, used in memes and edits when a defender is getting cooked or badly mismatched.

This sound is a short voice clip of Shaquille O'Neal yelling "barbeque chicken alert," usually delivered with the energy of a live basketball breakdown. It has a loud, playful, calling-it-out tone that instantly signals an obvious mismatch or easy bucket. The phrase lands fast and makes a clip feel funnier by turning a routine play into a public warning that someone is about to get scored on. Viewers recognize it as a roast, so it works well when a person, player, or character gets completely overpowered.

"Barbeque chicken" is a phrase strongly associated with Shaquille O'Neal and his basketball commentary persona, especially in TV analysis and highlight culture. Online, the clipped "alert" version spread through sports memes, reaction edits, and short-form videos as a fast way to label a one-sided matchup. It stayed popular because the wording is instantly understandable even outside basketball, so creators use it for gaming, school, and everyday fail clips where one side never had a chance.
