About this sound

The clipped "And they say" voice line from Doomfist in Overwatch, used in memes, edits and game jokes right before a punchline or fail.

This sound is the short, cut-off opening of Doomfist's famous Overwatch voice line, usually heard as "And they say" or the meme spelling "and dey say." On its own, the clip lands like a smug setup with no payoff, which is exactly why people use it. The delivery is confident and instantly recognizable to many gamers, so even a two-second snippet can turn a simple cut into a bait-and-switch joke. It works especially well when paired with awkward pauses, sudden failures or overdramatic gameplay moments.

This clip is widely known from Doomfist in Blizzard's hero shooter Overwatch, where the full voice line is "And they say chivalry is dead." The shortened opening became a meme in gaming communities because the first words are enough for people to recognize the joke. It spread through compilations, remix edits and repeated in-game voice line spam, especially after Doomfist joined Overwatch in 2017. The meme version often keeps the clipped pronunciation, written as "and dey say," which helped it stick in search and caption text.
