About this sound

The slowed 0.5x Among Us impostor sound effect from the game Among Us, used in memes, sus reveals and dramatic betrayal edits online.

This clip is the famous Among Us impostor reveal sound played at half speed, stretching the game's sharp, ominous sting into a slower and heavier hit. It starts with a tense sci-fi feel and lands with a dramatic payoff that instantly signals suspicion, deception or a sudden twist. Because the slowed version lingers longer than the normal cue, it gives edits extra buildup and makes a reveal feel more exaggerated. Viewers usually read it as a joke warning that someone is acting shady, lying or about to sabotage the moment.

The impostor reveal sound comes from Among Us, the social deduction game developed by InnerSloth. Although the game released in 2018, the sound spread widely during the huge Among Us boom in 2020, when stream clips, TikTok edits and sus jokes took over online. The slowed 0.5x version became popular because it makes the reveal feel even more dramatic and absurd. It is still used as a quick audio cue for suspicion, betrayal jokes and posts that reference among us sus humor.

Use Cases

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Among Us impostor sound?

It is the dramatic reveal cue associated with the impostor in Among Us. In this version, the audio is slowed to 0.5x speed, which makes the sting longer, heavier and more exaggerated for meme edits.

Where is this sound from?

This sound comes from Among Us, the social deduction game by InnerSloth. It became especially recognizable during the game's viral online surge, when creators started using the reveal cue in short videos and joke edits.

Why do people use the slowed version?

Creators use the slowed version because it gives a suspicious or betrayal moment more buildup. The longer sting works well with zoom-ins, pauses and fake dramatic reveals, so the joke lands harder than with the normal speed clip.
