The high tone version of the NBC Studios 1999 theme, a bright chime jingle used for TV nostalgia, reactions, intros and retro broadcast edits.

This is the high-pitched rendition of the familiar NBC chimes theme as heard in the 1999 Studios ident, built around three clean, ringing notes that resolve in a bright major flourish. The tone is instantly nostalgic, evoking network television promos, studio logos and the start of a prime-time show. Because the notes are short and ceremonial, the clip lands like a reveal or a punchline, adding instant broadcast polish to an ordinary moment. Played on its own it feels cheerful and official, which is why editors love dropping it where something deserves a mock-important announcement.

The three-note NBC chimes date back to the network's radio days in the late 1920s and became one of the most recognisable audio logos in American broadcasting. The 1999 Studios version repackaged that signature for television production idents at the end of the decade, with this high tone edit pitched brighter for meme and edit use. Online it sits alongside other network stings like Law and Order DUN DUN, shared in nostalgia threads and reused whenever creators want an instantly official television feel without using a full theme song.

What is the NBC Studios 1999 theme sound?

It is a short television ident built around the three-note NBC chimes, presented here in a brighter high tone version. The 1999 Studios rendition runs about twelve seconds and works as a nostalgic sting for intros, reveals and parody broadcast moments.

Where do the NBC chimes come from?

The chimes began as an NBC radio identifier in the late 1920s, using a simple three-note sequence that listeners could recognise instantly. They carried over into television, appearing in network and studio idents for decades, including the 1999 Studios version heard here.

How do creators use this sound in edits?

Creators place the chimes right before a reveal, announcement or title card so the moment feels like a prime-time television event. It works best used once, at a clean cut, rather than looped, and pairs well with logo animations and mock news graphics.
