Impersonation of Ethan Mars desperately shouting for his son Jason in Heavy Rain, the dramatic call that became a gaming meme for lost or panicked searches.

This clip is an impersonation of Ethan Mars frantically calling out for his missing son Jason at the start of Heavy Rain. The voice stretches the name with raw panic, rising in volume and desperation as if searching through a crowded mall. It captures the over the top emotion of the original scene, where a simple shout becomes pure melodrama. Listeners instantly feel the urgency, but the exaggeration also makes it funny, turning a tense dramatic moment into a recognizable cue for anyone hopelessly looking for someone or something that has vanished.

Heavy Rain is a 2010 interactive drama game by Quantic Dream, and its opening mall sequence has Ethan Mars lose sight of his son Jason. Players repeatedly press a prompt to make Ethan shout the name while pushing through shoppers, and the drawn out delivery quickly escaped the game as a meme. Clips, remixes and impersonations spread across forums and video sites in the early 2010s, with the call reused whenever someone was searching in vain. This impersonation version keeps that joke alive on soundboards long after release.

What is the Jason sound from Heavy Rain?

It is an impersonation of Ethan Mars shouting for his son Jason during the mall scene at the start of Heavy Rain. The repeated, panicked call became famous because the dramatic delivery feels far bigger than the simple search happening on screen.

Why did the Jason shout become a meme?

Players had to trigger the shout over and over while wandering the mall, so the name echoed with increasing desperation. That repetition, paired with the serious tone of the scene, made it easy to parody and reuse for other lost person jokes.

How do creators use this sound?

Creators place it over footage of someone searching a crowd, a room or a game map for a missing person or item. The panicked tone signals a desperate hunt instantly, while the exaggeration keeps the moment comedic rather than genuinely tense.
