The ululo sound is a short high pitched howling vocal effect used for funny reactions, spooky edits and meme moments that need a sudden wail.

Ululo is a brief, wailing vocal sound that rises and falls like a cartoon howl, stretched just enough to sound both spooky and silly. The voice is clean and upfront with no music behind it, so the cry lands instantly when it starts. That mix of alarm and comedy makes it feel like an exaggerated reaction rather than a real call for help. Viewers hear it as a character losing control, spotting something strange, or celebrating in the most dramatic way possible, which is why a single play can turn an ordinary moment into a punchline.

Ululo circulates on soundboards as a standalone reaction clip with no clear credited source, shared mainly for its short, wailing delivery rather than a known scene or character. Online, creators treat it like a cousin to the wololo chant, using it where a drawn out vocal cry can signal panic, mock horror or over the top excitement. Its 1.5 second length makes it easy to drop into short form edits without covering dialogue, and that portability has kept it in rotation for memes, gaming clips and sports fan edits.

What is the ululo sound?

Ululo is a 1.5 second wailing vocal clip that sounds like an exaggerated cartoon howl. It has no music or background noise, just a single rising and falling cry that reads instantly as panic, mock horror or silly overreaction in an edit.

Where does the ululo sound come from?

It is shared on soundboards as a standalone clip and its original recording is not clearly credited in the listing. Because of that, most creators know it only by its name and use, rather than from a specific film, game or show.

How do you use ululo in a video?

Place it at the exact moment of surprise, a fail or a spooky reveal and let it play once at full volume. Keep music and dialogue low underneath, and avoid looping it, because the single short wail is the whole joke.
