The "zombies are coming" warning from Plants vs. Zombies, used in edits and memes to signal incoming chaos, pressure or a sudden wave of trouble.

This clip is the familiar warning line from Plants vs. Zombies: “The zombies are coming.” It is short, clear and slightly dramatic, with the game’s campy horror tone that makes it feel urgent without sounding truly scary. Because the phrase is simple and instantly understandable, creators use it as a cue that something bad, stressful or ridiculous is about to arrive. It lands well in comedy edits, gaming posts and reaction videos where a scene suddenly shifts from calm to overwhelming.

This sound comes from Plants vs. Zombies, the tower defense game released by PopCap in 2009. The warning line became memorable because players hear it right before zombie waves begin, tying it to rising tension and fast decisions. Online, the phrase spread beyond the game into short edits, memes and gaming compilations as a simple way to announce incoming trouble. It is still used because the line is instantly recognizable to many players and works even for viewers who never played the game.
