Tom Hanks as Chuck Noland yelling I'm sorry Wilson from Cast Away, the emotional volleyball scene used for dramatic goodbyes and over-the-top apologies.

The clip captures Chuck Noland alone on a raft, screaming for his volleyball companion Wilson as it drifts away in the ocean. His voice cracks from panic into grief, repeating the apology with growing desperation over the sound of waves. It is raw, stretched out, and painfully sincere, which is why the moment lands so hard even out of context. Hearing it instantly signals loss and guilt, but the exaggeration also makes it funny in meme edits, where a tiny setback is treated like losing a best friend forever.

The sound comes from Cast Away, released in 2000 and starring Tom Hanks as Chuck Noland, a FedEx engineer stranded on a deserted island. He paints a face on a Wilson volleyball and talks to it as his only companion for years. During his escape on a raft he loses the ball at sea, creating one of the most parodied movie goodbyes ever filmed. Clips and quotes spread through forums, YouTube edits and meme pages, turning a sincere survival drama moment into shorthand for melodramatic loss.
