The old Columbus Blue Jackets goal cannon: a deep arena-shaking boom from Nationwide Arena. Fans use it to celebrate hockey goals, wins and hype moments in edits.

This is the older recording of the Columbus Blue Jackets goal cannon, the massive boom that shakes Nationwide Arena every time Columbus scores at home. It opens with a sharp concussive crack and rolls into a deep, echoing blast with a long arena reverb tail, the kind of sound you feel in your chest. For hockey fans it is pure adrenaline, an instant signal that something worth celebrating just happened. Dropped into a video, it turns an ordinary highlight into a moment, giving goals, wins and announcements a heavyweight punch that a simple cheer track can never match.

The Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL fire a real cannon inside Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio every time the team scores a home goal, a tradition carried over from the team's Civil War themed identity. The blast has become one of hockey's most recognisable goal celebrations, and fans rip the audio for edits, memes and reaction clips whenever Columbus scores. Older recordings like this one capture the cannon's original arena mix before later audio refreshes, which is why longtime fans seek out the classic boom.
