The classic MSN Messenger nudge alert sound, used to mimic old chat pings, window shakes and attention-grabbing moments in memes and edits.

This clip is the short alert tied to the MSN Messenger nudge feature, the old chat action that shook the conversation window to grab someone's attention. It has a sharp, digital notification feel that instantly reads as early internet and desktop messaging. Because the sound is so brief and recognizable, creators use it to punctuate awkward pauses, spammy messages, sudden interruptions and nostalgic throwbacks. It lands fast, feels slightly annoying on purpose, and gives a scene that frantic “reply to me now” energy people remember from old instant messaging days.

The MSN nudge sound comes from MSN Messenger, later known as Windows Live Messenger, where the Nudge feature let users shake a chat window to demand attention. The feature became especially associated with mid-2000s online chat culture and is still remembered as one of the most iconic instant messaging alerts. Today the sound survives in nostalgic memes, retro internet edits and fake messaging skits because it instantly signals urgency, impatience and old-school desktop chat behavior.
