The sudden Springlock jumpscare sound from Five Nights at Freddy's, with a loud metallic snap and scream used in horror edits and reaction videos.

The Springlock jumpscare hits without warning, starting with a sharp metallic clank as the spring mechanisms snap shut, then bursting into a distorted scream and a crashing impact that fills the whole mix. It is loud, abrupt and deliberately uncomfortable, designed to make the listener flinch before they have time to process what happened. In a video it works as a sudden punchline or shock cut, turning a quiet build-up into instant panic. The raw, mechanical edge keeps it feeling dangerous rather than cartoonish, which is why it lands so hard even on a second listen.

Springlock is a term from the Five Nights at Freddy's horror games, where springlock suits can snap shut around the wearer and become deadly animatronics. That lore made springlock jumpscares a favourite among fans, who recreate the moment in animations, fan games and edited gameplay clips. The sound has spread through horror compilations and short-form videos, where a sudden scare is the whole joke. It remains popular because it instantly signals a FNAF-style scare, even to viewers who have never played the games.
