The Mario Kart Wii item roulette sound effect from hitting an Item Box, looping rapidly before landing on a random item for gameplay edits and memes.

This is the bright, spinning chime that plays in Mario Kart Wii when a racer drives through an Item Box and the roulette cycles through possible items. A rapid series of electronic blips speeds along as icons flash past, creating instant suspense about whether the result will be a useful shell, a banana, or something game-changing. The sound is short, clean and unmistakably Nintendo in tone, with a cheerful urgency that builds tension in just a few seconds before the final item locks in with a satisfying stop.

The sound comes from Mario Kart Wii, released by Nintendo in 2008 for the Wii console. In the game, driving through a floating Item Box triggers the roulette, which cycles through weapons and power-ups before assigning one based partly on race position. Clips of the spin have been reused widely in gameplay videos, edits and soundboards because the rising sequence instantly signals randomness and luck, even to viewers who have not played this entry in years.
