The scat-singing hook from Scatman John's 1994 dance hit, with rapid nonsense syllables over a driving beat. Creators use it for memes and upbeat edits.

This clip captures the instantly recognisable opening hook of Scatman John's dance track, where rapid-fire scat syllables tumble over a bright, bouncy electronic beat. The vocal is playful, high-energy and almost nonsensical, yet it stays catchy because the rhythm is so tight and repetitive. Hearing those ski-ba-bop syllables immediately signals fun and silliness, lifting the mood of a scene in seconds. It works as a burst of pure momentum, making viewers smile before they even process the words, and it can turn an ordinary moment into something absurd, upbeat and shareable.

Scatman John, born John Paul Larkin, released Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop) in 1994, turning his lifelong stutter into a fast, joyful scat performance over Eurodance production. The song became an international hit and made scat singing familiar to a mainstream pop audience that had rarely heard it in dance music. Decades later, short clips of its hook circulated in memes, edits and dance videos, where the nonsense syllables work even without context. Its energy and instant recognisability keep it useful for creators today.
