Tommy Wiseau delivers Johnny's frantic denial in The Room, a cult movie quote used in memes to parody obvious lies, outrage, and awkward acting.

This dialogue clip captures Johnny loudly insisting that he did not hit Lisa before abruptly calming down and greeting Mark. Tommy Wiseau’s unusual delivery moves from anger and denial to casual friendliness in seconds, giving the scene its famously awkward comic rhythm. The sharp emotional switch makes the audio instantly recognizable even without the visuals. In edits and reaction memes, it turns suspicious denials, flimsy excuses, and sudden mood changes into melodramatic moments, often emphasizing how unconvincing or uncomfortable a situation already appears.

The line comes from the 2003 independent drama The Room, written, directed, produced by, and starring Tommy Wiseau as Johnny. It occurs during the rooftop scene that ends with Johnny casually greeting Mark. The film developed a large cult following through theatrical screenings and online sharing, while Wiseau’s distinctive delivery turned the exchange into a widely quoted reaction meme. The clip remains popular because its abrupt transition from furious denial to relaxed conversation works as a compact punchline for accusations, excuses, and sudden emotional changes.
