The Exorcist scary call sound effect is a demonic phone call clip inspired by the horror film, used for prank calls, jump scares and creepy edits.

This is a short horror call clip built around a distorted, demonic voice that sounds like it is coming through a phone line. The delivery is low, guttural and threatening, with that possessed tone made famous by The Exorcist, then it cuts off as if the call was suddenly hung up. The contrast between the familiar ring and conversation setup and the unnatural voice creates instant unease. It works because listeners recognise the exorcism style immediately, so even a few seconds feel tense, creepy and darkly funny when placed in an ordinary situation.

The sound draws on The Exorcist, the 1973 horror film known for its possessed demonic voice, and reframes that voice as a scary phone call that gets cut off. That hang-up twist is described in Portuguese on soundboards in Portugal, where it circulates as a classic bizarre and dramatic joke audio. Online it spread through meme pages and short clips rather than a single official release. It stays popular because the reference is instantly recognisable, the call format fits pranks perfectly, and the short length makes it easy to reuse.
