The Eurovision intro song is the grand orchestral theme that opens the famous song contest, used for show intros, reveals and celebration edits online.

This is the short opening theme associated with the Eurovision Song Contest, built around a bright, ceremonial orchestral fanfare. Brass and strings rise quickly in a formal, almost triumphant progression that feels instantly grand and televisual. Even in just a few seconds it signals a big live event, a stage reveal and an audience watching across countries. Listeners recognise the pomp immediately, even without any singing or lyrics. Played on its own it turns an ordinary entrance or announcement into something theatrical, celebratory and slightly tongue in cheek, as if a major international final is about to begin.

The opening music is the prelude to Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Te Deum, adopted as the theme of the Eurovision network and heard before its broadcasts. The Eurovision Song Contest began in 1956 and grew into one of the world's most watched live music events, taking the fanfare far beyond classical concerts. Clips of the intro later circulated on soundboards and in edits, where its formal, instantly recognisable sound became shorthand for a grand European television occasion, a final, or any moment presented as far more important than it really is.

What is the Eurovision intro song?

The Eurovision intro song is the orchestral fanfare heard at the start of Eurovision broadcasts. It is the prelude to Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Te Deum, a Baroque choral work whose bright brass opening became the network's signature theme.

Why is the Eurovision intro so recognisable?

It has opened major European broadcasts for decades and is tied to the Song Contest, first held in 1956 and watched by huge international audiences. Its short, ceremonial fanfare is easy to recognise even from a few seconds of audio.

How do creators use the Eurovision intro song?

Creators place it before reveals, entrances, results and announcements to make them feel like a live television final. It works best as a single short hit at the start of a clip, rather than as background music underneath speech.
