Faustão shouting Errou from Brazilian TV, the classic wrong answer sound effect used in memes and edits whenever someone makes a big mistake.

This is the short, sharp shout of Errou from Brazilian presenter Faustão, delivered in his loud, unmistakable game show voice. The clip lasts under two seconds and lands like a buzzer for a wrong answer, cutting in fast and ending just as abruptly. It sounds both scolding and playful, which is why it works so well over fails and embarrassing moments. Hearing that drawn out, emphatic tone instantly tells the viewer that someone messed up, turning a small slip into a bigger, funnier punchline without needing any extra explanation or setup at all.

Faustão, the stage name of Fausto Silva, became famous in Brazil as host of Domingão do Faustão on TV Globo, which ran from 1989 to 2021. His emphatic Errou became a catchphrase viewers associated with contestants getting answers wrong on the Sunday variety show. Clips were later ripped and shared as short audios on YouTube, WhatsApp and meme pages, where the shout escaped its TV context. It remains popular because a single word carries clear meaning even for non-Portuguese speakers and works as a universal wrong answer reaction.

What does Errou mean in Portuguese?

Errou is Portuguese for he or she missed or got it wrong. In this clip Faustão shouts it as a reaction to a wrong answer, which is why editors use it worldwide as a clear, funny signal that a mistake just happened on screen.

Who says Errou in this sound?

The voice belongs to Fausto Silva, known as Faustão, the Brazilian television presenter who hosted Domingão do Faustão. His loud, drawn out delivery made the word instantly recognisable in Brazil long before it became a staple meme sound in short online videos and chats.

When should you use the Errou sound?

Use it at the exact moment a fail becomes obvious, like a missed shot, a wrong guess or a clumsy slip. Its short length works best as a punchline rather than background audio, so place it once and let the reaction land cleanly.
