Dwayne Russell's 'bending' call as an AFL kick curves through for a goal. A short sports commentary clip used for highlight edits and clutch winning moments.

This is a three-second grab of Australian football commentator Dwayne Russell at full stretch, holding the word bending as a kick curls toward goal. His voice is loud, nasal and rising, packed with urgency, with the crowd noise swelling faintly underneath. The delivery makes a simple kick feel dramatic, like the ball is defying physics to get through. Dropped into an edit, it instantly adds big-match commentary energy, turning an ordinary highlight, trick shot or lucky bounce into a moment that feels called by the professionals.

Dwayne Russell is a veteran Australian rules football caller best known for his loud, dramatic television commentary. His stretched bending call comes from live AFL coverage, shouted when a set shot or snap curls late toward the goals, often over rising crowd cheering. Short commentary grabs like this circulate widely among footy fans as soundboard clips, much like other live sports calls shared for highlight videos and game-day banter. It endures because Russell's voice is instantly recognisable to AFL followers and the single word sums up that perfect curling kick.

He is describing a kick that curves sideways in the air, bending toward the goals rather than travelling straight. Commentators shout it during that late curl, and the drawn-out call sells the drama of a ball changing direction before scoring.

When should I use this sound in a video?

Drop it over any clip where something curls to its target, like a bending soccer free kick, a curving bowling ball or a trick shot. Time the word to the curve for the best effect and skip it for straight, uneventful plays.
