A rowdy crowd roars through an Aussie shoey, beer chugged from a shoe on stage. Creators use it for party dares, F1 celebration edits and drinking challenges.

You hear a loud, messy bar crowd building into chanting as someone commits to the bit, pouring beer into a sneaker and drinking it while everyone yells them on. There is splashing liquid, stomping, laughter and that rising roar when the shoe tips back and the crowd explodes. It sounds sweaty, gross and triumphant all at once. Dropped under a clip, it turns any dare or chug into a full stadium moment, making the viewer feel the peer pressure, the disgust and the weird glory of going through with it.

The shoey is an Australian drinking ritual where a person pours beer into a shoe and drinks from it, long seen at music festivals and rugby league games. It went global when Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo started performing it on podiums from 2016, with other drivers, fighters and musicians joining in. The exact recording behind this clip is undocumented, but the chant-filled audio circulates online as shorthand for rowdy Aussie party culture and fearless, disgusting celebration.

What is doing a shoey?

Doing a shoey means pouring a drink, usually beer, into a shoe and chugging it in front of a cheering crowd. It is a rowdy Australian party dare that treats the gross-out stunt as a badge of honour.

Where did the shoey come from?

The shoey grew out of Australian festival, surf and rugby league culture before Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo made it famous worldwide with his podium shoeys starting in 2016. Athletes and musicians have copied it ever since.

How do creators use this shoey sound?

Editors lay it under dare clips, chug challenges, F1 edits and victory memes so a simple drink becomes a stadium moment. The chanting crowd sells the peer pressure and makes the payoff feel bigger and funnier.
