The classic baseball commentary clip where announcer Harry Doyle calls a wild pitch just a bit outside, used for near misses and failed attempts in memes.

The clip is a deadpan piece of baseball commentary delivered in a calm, almost polite announcer's voice, despite the pitch being nowhere near the strike zone. The contrast is the joke: the understatement lands softly, with a dry, wry tone that makes the failure feel both obvious and oddly dignified. For a viewer, it works as an instant verdict, turning a wild throw, a bad shot or a clumsy miss into something funny rather than frustrating, because the voice never raises, panics or mocks the player directly.

The line comes from the 1989 baseball comedy Major League, where Bob Uecker plays Cleveland Indians announcer Harry Doyle. Doyle delivers it after a pitch from wild young pitcher Ricky Vaughn sails far outside the strike zone, treating a spectacular miss as a minor error. The deadpan understatement became one of the film's most quoted moments, later circulating online as a reaction clip for sports fails, gaming misses and everyday near misses, which is why it still works decades after the film's release.
