The classic Windows 95 startup chime that plays when the PC boots up. People use it in nostalgic edits, retro tech clips and old computer memes.

This sound is the iconic six-second startup chime from Windows 95, with a soft, airy synth tone that rises into a clean, optimistic finish. It feels calm, futuristic and instantly familiar to anyone who used early Windows PCs. The clip has a polished, welcoming sound that signals a computer coming to life, which is why it works so well in retro edits and nostalgia posts. Even out of context, it gives a scene an old-school tech mood and a surprisingly emotional sense of beginning.

The Windows 95 startup sound originated with Microsoft's Windows 95 release in 1995. The short chime was composed by Brian Eno and became one of the most recognizable computer sounds of the 1990s. It spread far beyond the operating system through tech nostalgia videos, remix culture, and memes about old PCs and the early internet. It still gets used because a few seconds of audio instantly suggest booting up, digital optimism, and a very specific era of home computing, much like the Windows XP shutdown sound does for later PCs.
