The startup chime from Windows 7 Media Center, a short melodic jingle heard when the media hub opens. It is used in retro tech edits and nostalgic videos.

This is the short startup sound that greets you when Windows 7 Media Center opens, a clean, upbeat electronic jingle built from soft synth tones that rise and resolve in just a few seconds. It feels polished and welcoming rather than loud or dramatic, instantly signalling that a media library is ready to browse. For listeners who grew up with Windows 7, it triggers a wave of nostalgia for living-room PCs, DVD menus and evening movie sessions, while for younger viewers it simply reads as a charming retro computer cue that sets a calm, familiar mood before a clip begins.

Windows 7 Media Center was Microsoft's living-room media hub, included with Windows 7 when the operating system launched in 2009, letting users browse music, photos, videos and recorded TV from a remote-friendly interface. Its startup sound became familiar to anyone who used a home theatre PC in that era, and as Windows 7 aged out of everyday use, the chime survived in online nostalgia clips, retro computing videos and meme edits. It endures because it instantly evokes a specific mid-2000s to early-2010s desktop era without needing any explanation.
