A short music clip featuring the repeated “shimmy shimmy ya” refrain associated with Ol’ Dirty Bastard, used in dance edits and playful meme videos.

This clip centers on the rhythmic “shimmy shimmy ya” refrain closely associated with Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s signature track. The repeated vocal phrase rides over a hip-hop beat, giving the audio a loose, catchy energy that works especially well with dancing, entrances, and deliberately exaggerated movement. Its playful cadence can make an ordinary action feel more animated, confident, or absurd. Because the phrase repeats clearly, viewers recognize the rhythm quickly, even when the clip appears in a very short edit or as the punch line to a visual gag.

“Shimmy Shimmy Ya” was released by Ol’ Dirty Bastard in 1995 and appears on his debut album, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version. Its unusual vocal delivery and highly repeatable hook helped make it one of his best-known songs. The refrain later found new audiences through dance clips, short-form videos, remixes, and meme edits. It remains useful because the opening words are immediately recognizable, rhythmically flexible, and easy to match with movement, reveals, entrances, or deliberately chaotic humor.
